FZRC (Sarasota, FL)

FZ - SS race series. Two tracks four races, one a month for fours months.

T4

Had the TQ in the first qual by over a lap!!! Broke a MIP axle in the second qual.

GO at the tone! Jumped by TQ into first and powered away as 2nd and 3rd got into each others way!!!! THEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just after minute 3 I heard that sound I didn't want to hear. A loose slipper!!!!!!!!!!!!! For the next 5 minutes I watched 2nd get closer and closer, until he passed me. Last lap three turns to go and I touched a pipe, which broke a rear link and 3rd got by me!!!

NITRO!!!!!! NOT!!!!! GT2-SC would not start!!!!!

SC10

Started out with HPI Magabites front and rear, switched to JConcepts Double D's on the rear and I'm ready!!! Finished 3rd!

B4.1

Losi on the rear and Jconcepts bar codes on the front, changed to Proline Scrubs front and Turbo Traxs on the rear. Finished 7th!

T2

Had planed to race the T4 have a new Brushless Hobbies ESC BUT I left it at home!!!!! So, raced the T2 instead. Had ONLY planed to do some track testing for fun, only had a 17.5 in it. Had the lead for about half the race, then the 1st place racer quit hitting pipes, was about 100 foot from the finish in 2nd when the motor melted!!!!! Finished 3rd!!

GT2-SC

Planned to race Nitro SC with the GT2-SC, tossed two MIP pins during the 1st qual!!!!


SC10

Out came the SC10 with 2 minutes to go. Changed rear tires from NONE to some!!! Put a transponder in and was on the track with a minute to go!! Was enough to know WRONG rear tires!!

Da' Main!! Part of the pack took out 1st, 2nd and 3rd out before we crossed the start line!!!! Was in 1st at turn one, the rest of the pack took me out!!! Finished 3rd after a very hard 8 minutes of racn'!!!!!


T4

What can be said TQ'd and finished 1st. Finished two laps up on 2nd!!


B4.1

First qual Rib fronts and Losi silvers on the back. NOT good!!!

Second qual Scrubs on the front and Losi silvers on the rear much better!!

Main Scrubs front and Hole Shots rear go at the tone from 2nd start position.

Went from 2nd to last in turn one <<< I'm beginning to NOT like turn one!!!

Took 5 of the 8 minute main to get to 4th, finished on the same lap as 3rd just over a half a lap behind him!!

FZRC (Sarasota, FL)

Got a B4.1 buggy last week at SS Hobbies and Raceway in Tampa, FL. 

Put some ball bearing in the steering, some Proline Scrubs on the front and super soft VP Pros Turbo Trax on the rear.

Qual's were NOT so good dogbone first qual and front steering hub in the second!!!

Put Red Dot tire sauce on and I'm ready for some FAST racing!!

Lap three, I was comfortable with the setup that the front triple became a single (was the only racer doing this), was having some GREAT fun. Haven't raced 1/10 2wd buggy since 2009!!!

With two laps to go and the right dogbone came loose again!!! Have CVD's on order, hope they will be here in time to race at SS this coming Sunday. Finished 6th!

Cole was there again so I offered the SC10 to him to race in Mod SC. He gave Bruce a good run, but Bruce finished in front. Cole got a 2nd in his first SC race!

Planned to race the T4 and GT2-SC today, did bring the SC10 just in case.

T4

Between the 1st and 2nd qual's checked to see if the sensor side bearing was ok, oiled it a couple weeks ago and the noise was back. It was bad, as I was checking to see if I had one. Found that the wheel bearing for a AE RC was the same size!!!

I didn't think that the bearing change would make a BIG diff until I did a hot lap before the 2nd qual. There is a triple jump that I had been doing a single - single on, as I power down the lane I just didn't back off, landed at the base of the third jump! SWEEEEET!!!

Go at the tone, over the triple for the 2nd lap and both rear tire came off the rims and the T4 landed 10 feet past the third jump!!!!!!!! Guess I need to turn the radio down!

Lap 3 as I went to pass a back marker hit a pipe and removed the right rear a-arm!! I'm done, for a 5th.

GT2-SC

Lets just get to the fun!!! POWER Wheelies the 2nd half of the front straight!!! The WOWS!! were great to hear!! The GT2-SC jumped, turned and powered out of the turns just SWEEEEET!!

Da' Main!! Got ran over in turn one! Was about 20 foot behind 1st by lap three, got that down to 5 by lap 6. Then a MIP cvd pin left the known universe from the right axle!!! Finished 6th.

Set the front shocks and steering arm to FZ spec's and TQ'd both qual!!!

At the tone Pedro and I tried to out run each other to turn 1, Pedro won and drove away for the win!!!

Now for the REAL fun!!!

Donated the use of my T4 to a novice racer for the day. To watch one of my RC's jump, turn and run down a straight from someplace other than then drivers stand is just SWEEEET! The kid TQ'd and finished 2nd after a rear shock came loose!!!

Saturday night under da' lights!!!

Steve did a nice layout on the track, lot of FAST area's and a lot of slow area's very balanced.

SC10

Same everything as Yupers last week, except the front top shock mounts, moved them out to hole #2.

TQ'd for the main, lost my mind at the tone and spun the SC10 going into the first turn. Had a 3 foot lead going into the turn, braked to much!!!! Came out in last!!! By lap four I was 20 foot behind 1st, lap 6 I was on him. Touched a pipe and it took three more laps to be on his tail again. As we lapped the 6th place racer, 1st got by him, I was pushed into a pipe!!! Finished 10 foot behind 1st!!!

T4

TQ'd first qual, so I thought race the GT2-E in the 2nd qual, tq'd that qual also.

Looked at the rear tires on the GT2-E after the 2nd qual, this is the 2nd race for these tires. They are GONE!!!! This is NOT a good thing at $20 a set, gone in 12 minutes!!!

After the problem with the SC10 at the tone I was a bit to careful and Kenny got by me as we went into turn two. Took my time making up the 10 foot lead he had on me. As we come up to 3rd place, I started to make my move, took one more lap to cleanly get by Kenny. Two turns later Kenny piped his truck and I was driving away. Lapped Kenny with two laps to go.

Final race of FL State Sportsman's Series with AWARDS after the days racn'.

SC10

Ken (series leader) and I traded 1st, time wise, every lap during the 1st qual. That was the MOST fun I've had during this series!!!

Still finished 2nd in every qual and the main for a 2nd over all.

The SC10 was just SWEEEEET every qual and every main!!

GT2-SC

Race in both qual's very HAPPY with how the engine ran and the truck handled. BUT!

SC10

Raced the 8 minute main lipo powered instead of Nitro powered!! Managed to finish 5th of 10.

Steve (a Team Holy Rollers member) asked to race the GT2-E. He TQ'd and finished 1st!!!!

I was racn' the T4 and had hopes to make Steve sweat for 8 minutes. Qual'd in 3rd, muscled my way by 2nd in the first turn and was just five feet behind Steve 1/4 into lap two when a MIP pin disappeared from the left axle!!!!

Had problems in 1st qual only finished 2nd!!!

As I was prepping for the 2nd qual noticed that the front was still set to SS tracks spec's!!!!!!

And the left front shock was a bit low on oil. Changed oil in both front shocks, moved the shock top mounts to "0" hole from "2" hole. Put a set of BarCodes (Gold) and I was ready to race.

Marty choose to run three qual's << SWEEEEEET!!!!!!!!!!!

Still started 2nd!!!!!!

After 8 minutes of racn' in the main finished 2nd!!!!

Replaced the steering servo to a Savöx 0125. Didn't change anything else from last weeks race. Same results!!! Alan is getting to be a FOUR letter word!! :-)  Finished 2nd!!

Goosebumps were THE tires last week, this week it was M3 Proline Calibers on the rear.

Finished 4th behind racers that I've never beat unless they broke!!!

Will have to race the last race of the FLRS at Yupers after I found out the the racer in 3rd can take 2nd from me with attendance points!!!!!!

TQ'd the first qual BUT just as I walked on to the drivers stand Alan called me by name and said "Hi" just to let me know he was there!!!!!!!!

Finished 2nd in the main behind Alan!!!!!! :-)

Just could not get this thing to work, tried almost every rear tire I had with me and just could NOT power out of the turns!!!! 

The best of what I had was JConcepts Goosebumps!!!!!! Haven't used this tread in over 2 years!!!! Last time was at Farmers Hobby and Raceway!!!

Finished 3rd!!!

Side bit after I got home found I had the front shocks in the wrong top mount hole for SS track!!! This was causing the rear to rotate to quickly coming out of a corner. <<< reason I couldn't power OUT OF A TURN!!!

Arrived about 7am, the tracks lighting was on, first time for me to see the track under lights!!!

Track was a bit damp from the night dew, by the first qual the GROOVE started to develop.

Started with Proline M3 Calibers front and rear, good enough for 3rd. BUT I wanted a better starting grid place. JConcepts "Gold" Double Deeson the front and JConcepts "Blue" Subcultures on the rear and I was ready for qual #2. During a warm up lap, the left rear a-arm came a part BIG time, spent the 8 minute qual in the pits rebuilding the rear of the SC10.

A few months ago, I had put a alm rear a-arm mount on the SC10. As I was repairing the broken a-arm found the alm mount was broke also!!!!!!! AND was twisted!!! Changed to a stock plastic mount, after a treatment of Red Dot to the tires, was ready for the 8 minute a main.

Go at the tone!!!

Crossed the line in 3rd just as I started, for lap one. Jumped over #2 in the front triple for second and was watching first pull away, lap two!! Then he piped it (lap 5), and I was by him, we both were running the same line before his pipe problem. He was on me for a lap then piped again two laps later he was on me again and piped it. Now I'm sure I had a big enough lead, that he would NEVER catch me. ONE lap later he was on me!!! After nine laps in the lead I miss landed coming over the cross-over, went wide into the corner and he passed me on the inside of the turn.

Even tho he got by I felt good, during those 9 laps we had lapped the rest of the racers!! Ken passed me for the lead at lap 14 of the 26 laps he had, then PASSED me again on lap 24!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were talking after the race (I knew I knew him from some place but couldn't place him), asked him if he had raced the first race (two months ago) of the series. He had, he beat me at that race also!!!!! But he ONLY passed me once two turns before the finish at SS Raceway and Hobbies!!!!!!

In 2nd place for the series with one more race to run. Yupers in Winterheaven is next, then it's TROPHY TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TQ'd the first qual, then it went down hill!!! Just would not hookup to the track. Finished 4th, with 5th on my heels!!!!!!!!!

NEVER got the SC10 to hookup to the track. Ran out of tire options!!!!! Luck to stay in front of 5th!!!!

SC10GT

Did not qual this car, the girls (announcers) were calling all nitro racers to signup for the NITRO CLASS main. Asked if I could race my nitro SC with the 1/8 buggies?

10 minutes of SWEEEEEET NITRO JOY!!! Haven't raced with just nitro cars since Jan 2011.

Finished 4th out of 5. DID NOT beat him he broke!! Still SWEEEEET!!!!!!!!!!

Marty got his version of a E-Z-UP done over the track, this week.

About 30 minutes after I got to the track R*** started, lasted about 10 minutes!

There were 4 leaks in the E-Z-UP, NONE on the race line of the track!!!!

Not enough racers showed (R***?????) to have a race, so it was a test-n-tune day for the racers that did show up.

Was at the track by 8 am, left around 2:30 pm, the track was the same "GREAT" when I left as it was for the first lap of the day!!!

SC class,

SC10GT

Every time this starts up, I get memorizes of the GOOD Old Days of Gas Truck racing!!

1st qual, was in 1st until I was 3 turns from the timing line. Missed landing a jump and Mike got by!!!

SC10

2nd qual, drove my tail off for a 4th!!!!


SC Main

Was in 2nd after going over the table top, then started missing jumps!! Was able to get within five foot of Mike before the end for a 4th.

Stadium Truck class,

Put the Speed Passion GT2 LPF esc and LRP X11 7.5 motor in the T4 for today. Qual'd in 2nd, keep that at the tone for about a lap and a half then Kenny got by as I missed another jump. As I was catching Kenny, Alan broke, so I was in 2nd, now to pass Kenny!!!

Took two more minutes to get by Kenny, couldn't just bully him out of the way, he is the younger son of the TRACK OWNER!!! Just stayed about a foot behind him for two/three laps. Then he nosed a pipe and I was gone!!!!!

Bump box, one of the lipo's developed a bad cell so the SC10GT was put away. :-(

The GT2-E threw a MIP pin, didn't have any extra's so that got put away and the T4 came out!

New metal diff gear, CORRECT slipper setting made for one SWEEEET NITRO SC!!!

Updated the slipper from V1 to V2 last October (2012) but didn't change the slipper setting. Had the setting 2 and a half turns to tight!!!!!!!!! This one small bit may be the reason I was killing the idler gear(s).

Race the GT2SC in the 2nd qual was only 14 sec slower than the 1st qual with the SC10 for 16 laps!!

First race with the new 120 amp Hobbywing esc worked on getting the throttle settings on the radio. This esc is a very smooth, no jerky throttle!!

This is the 2nd track with the alm steering linkage, steering is so much better for the SC10, can round corners within a couple inches of the pipes.

TQ'd the 1st qual, got beat in the 3rd qual.

8 MINUTE MAIN!!!! This is going to be SWEEEEEEET!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just as we were getting go at the tone in 5, I told Steven that this is RACING not qualifying!!!

Eased into the throttle at the tone and was in first before the first turn and was driving away for two laps, then missed landing a jump and Steve was on me. We rubbed finders for three laps, then I missed landed another jump and Steve was in the lead and I never got close again!!!

One of the reason I was at SS on a Sat night, I seen that Steve had been there two weeks earlier. Steve is a Team Holy Rollers member that I had lost contact with after Lil' Dover closed.

Had not planed to race this, did want to put some GOOD laps in as development!!!

Could not keep a pinion on the motor, but then it was on the motor temps where good.

So, a one tooth bigger went on. While it was on the GT2-E was even better. Faster, more controllable and the motor temps were only 5 degrees hotter!!! That is while the pinion was on, tried a different  set screw not any better!!!!!

SC10

Left everything just as it was for last weeks race at SS.

1st qual.

Was fast, but could not power the turns without the rear coming around.

2nd qual

Moved the rear hubs forward one spacer, removed the 1 degree anti-squat spacer, changed rear tires to VP Pro's Still wasn't hooking up.

Main

 Changed the rear tires to HP Magabite super soft. Now the traction is there, can power the corners.

Finished 2nd, 1st pasted me at the 6 minute mark of the 8 minute main then tried to stay ahead of me for the next 2 minutes. He didn't!!!!!!!! :-)

GT2-E

Back in the day, when the T4 first came out some of us had T3's. To drive a T4 to it's limits you have to NOT drive the T3! With this remembrance I have decided to park the T4 for a while and just race the GT2-E.

Not enough ST's for a class but still got a good battery and a half ran through. the setup changes after the race at SS Hobbies and Raceway made the GT2-E just plain GREAT to drive!!! Hope to get some racn' in at SS next week.

One of the things about going to a track to race you ALWAYS >> ALWAYS meet up with friends you haven't seen in weeks, months or YEARS!!!!! Rob is one of those racers, we reconnected today. He still lost to me BUT we had great FUN. Next time I could be the loser!!!!

SC10

The only change to the SC10 for the first qual was the addition of one washer under each ball stud on the front shock tower, to raise the link up to change the front roll, hoped for better cornering. TQ that qual and the next two as well.

Put a set of JConcepts Double D's front and rear, after a application of Simple Green was ready to go. At the tone, lead to the first turn, GOOD so far right :-), nosed into the turn pipe and everyone got by me so it was a a GOOD thing it was a 8 minute main. Rob thought he had it made with about a half lap lead, as I worked my way past the racers between us. Then, Rob's esc OR motor decided to stop, we are thinking it maybe reading a overheat and shutting off. A turn marshal got it turned off and turned back on just after I got by to put him a lap down!!!

We will see next week at SS if this problem can lead to me winning again!!!! :-)

Took the T4 and GT2-E as parts RC's if needed.

The only setup change(s) where before the 2nd qual and the A-main.

2nd Qual, changed the front top shock mount to the inner hole, had a push in the 1st qual that wasn't there last week. The push was gone bit now the rear was a touch loose.

The main, moved the top rear shocks in one hole.

There wasn't enough PRO's signed up for Pro SC so they put them in Mod SC but scored them separately. Qual 3rd overall but 2nd in Mod SC. The Pro passed me at the 7 minute mark of 8 minute main. 1st in Mod SC passed me on the last lap.

Was a SWEEEEEEEET 2nd!!!

7/7/2013 SS Hobbies & Raceway (Tampa,FL.)

 GT2-SC

Ran a FULL tank thought during practice, Sure was SWEEEEET to hear the PICCO .12 running full tilt!!!Then I seen the the other racers in Mod SC! Put the GT2-SC back in the trunk! :-)

SC10

After 10 minutes of practice, decided that a tire change was needed. Moved the new-ish Proline M3 Calibers  from the rear to the front and put a set of JConcepts Green Subcultures on the rear. These were better at parts of the track and worse at others than the Calibers. So out came the Simple Green bottle, Gave the front and rear tires a coat than after they dried another coat. That fixed it! TQ'd the 2nd qual by a 1/2 sec. Didn't have time to enjoy the TQ, was they were calling the ST class to the line for their 2nd qual.

GT2-E

Had planed to race the GT2-E in ST class then Andy put his T4.2 on the track!!!! Andy is one of the racers from Farmers that I have NEVER beat!!!! Out came the T4!!!!

T4

Put the tires from the GT2-E on the T4, they were the newest that I have. Andy put it to me in both qual!! So I'm starting in 2nd.

Then the RAIN came!!!! :-)

Why am I  >> :-)  Cause the RAIN will put TRACTION in the track!!

Mains

SC10

The racer in 2nd, as we were waiting for "Da Tone" said he would hold the pack back until I got through the first turn. He sure did, by the time I crossed the timing line I had a 1/2 lap lead on 2nd at the four minute mark I was 2nd, by the 5 minute mark I was 1st and 2nd NEVER got close!!!

T4

As we lined up Andy stepped aside and let his son race his T4.2. Was the WRONG thing to do for the first five minutes of the main. He over powered the track as he came across the timing line as we started the main and nosed into the pipe and I WAS GONE!!!! At the two minutes to go call, I told him he had two minutes to catch me he did in ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Made a crazed shot at the line to beat him and ended up off the track BUT did closed the gap to .4 sec!!

Grand Opening race, they got a LOT of rain the evening before, BUT you could not tell it!!!

First round of qual's.

Mod SC

NITRO :-)  The odd looks as I carried the GT2SC to the start line! Was the ONLY nitro SC there.

TQ'd that qual by a lap over 4 ele SC's!!!!!! :-)

ST

The GT2-E just was out of it's element on the clay, but did qual 2nd/

Round two

Mod SC

SC10  two laps better and 10 sec quicker than the GT2SC. Thought GREAT now I've got a even better TQ. Then they announced that another racer had beat my time by 4 sec's!!!!!!

ST

The T4 was UP to the job of staying on the same lap with the TQ racer.

Gone at the tone, passed the TQ guy in the first turn, just after we started lap two I touched a pipe HARD and broke the rear link mount. 196 sec later I was back on the track to make sure I finished the main!!! 7 out of 9 :-)

ST

Lap 4 missed a landing and popped a rear ball cup. Was in last by the time Jim got it hooked up. At the 4 minute mark I was back in 2nd and had 1st on my tail. Then he had a rear ball cup come loose. I thought maybe I can get close enough to make it a race for first. One lap went by and they were still trying to get his ball cup hooked up. Another lap and I'm in first! They got him fixed and back on the track just in front of me and he was just that close to being a lap down. With 2 minutes to go he did his best but was still a half a lap behind at the finish.

B&B Hobby (Hudson, FL.)

This is my 3rd time to visit B&B, this visit was very diff!!!

My normal traveling racn' buddy couldn't go, his wife had broken an ankle a few weeks ago, so he's a stay at home hubby taking care of his sweety!

GT2-SC

Track looked like "stuff"!!! After a couple hours of practice it was worse. About 6 minutes into practice the idler gear in the tranny let go. This is the RC that I went to B&B to race, it's nitro powered and B&B is the closest track that races nitro classes. 86 mile drive and no racing for this RC. :-(

GT2-E

Hoped that there would be enough ST's for a class, I had the only one!

SC10

So I'm down to "Old Faithful", with a new (to me) Reedy 5500 lipo. With this lipo I had way to much power for the track, started at 140% on the radio, finished at 120% and even that was to much!!!

By the end of the 7 minute main I had a good 3 place finish.

The way the track team prepped the track was real ODD!

They blew the track off then water the edges for both qual's, During the 2nd qual's the track was starting to take a groove. I thought SWEEEET the track should be good for the main.

Not to be, they hosed the track!!! Why would you water the complete track when it's starting to "Blue Groove". They ran the 1/8 ele buggy b-main first which dug up all the wet places and scattered the sand/clay all over the track surface. The track was worse then it was during practice!!!!

Told my race buddy, NOT going back there!!!!

With the build of the RC10GT2-E, I haven't drove the T4 in a few weeks, put the best non-race tires on and had at it. Had to apply "Reddot" every few laps to have any traction.

Evader SC

Have a Losi brush esc and a 27 turn stock motor in this, After six laps 189 degrees, changed to a two tooth larger pinion (20) and it went to 190. Changed to a 21 and it was 208. BUT it was FAST!!!!!!!!

Changed to inline front axles and put .2 shock tower and a-arms on the front.
Move the rear top shock mount to hole #1 from hole #3.

BUT with all the rain, I thought I would have to wait another week to test the changes.

Remembered HMIRCR at Sarasota Square Mall in Sarasota, FL. Broke the front bulkhead 1/2 lap into test!!! :-(

Hoped to race the GT2-E but I was the only ST there! :-(

Did drive the GT2-E for about half a battery, drove GREAT!!!!

SC10

The HB Magabites just didn't work well on the sandy track! BUT did TQ the first qual! :-)

Also TQ'd the 3rd qual but they weren't enough for the A main TQ!!!

Go at the tone, with JC Double D's on the front and PL M3 Calibers on the rear. Was about ten foot behind 1st at the 5 minute mark of the 7 minute main. When I HIT a pipe and removed the left front tire from the a-arm., finished the last minute of the main as a 3 wheel Short Course truck! :-) Went from 2nd to 7th.

Stopped by Yuper's track on my way home, Yupers moved to a different location and I had not had the opportunity to see or race the track. They have a well STOCKED hobby shop!!

Read a posting on R/C Tech forum about doing a Electric conversion to a Losi XXXNT. This got my mind working! :-)

After about an hour of checking parts and placement, came up with a plan >> RC10GT2-E.

Did some testing of the GT2-E, one battery worth. Started with worn PL edges front and worn PL Step Pin rear. Was surprised on how well these hooked up! Truck has good speed and turns way better than the T4 that I have been racing!! Jumps just flat, I mean FLAT!!! Motor temps after 7 hard laps 130, may gear it up!!!

Just as I was going to ask another racer to operate my camera I hit a pipe, this caused the rear battery mount bolt to pull through it's mount! :-( Maybe I can get someone to do some filming 5/19/2013 during a qual or the main for me.

Still testing, hoping to race a qual this month.

Changed the rear link mount at the wheel hub. Moved the link out one hole, slowed the steering (had WAY to much steering) to the point I need to put race level tires on for the next test.

Was able to TQ the first qual, but was bettered by one lap in the 2nd qual so I'll start from 2nd. Go at the tone Justin and I traded places for four laps before I touched a pipe and he drove away!!! Finished 2nd just like I started.

T4

After all the racn' was done got the T4 out to do some testing for the next series race in two weeks. GLAD I did, pinion came loose two times AND the right dog bone broke off the axle.

Both of this bits can NOT happen in two weeks!!!

Hoped to race the T4 OR SC10 in the 2nd race of the 6 race series.

Didn't look like there would be enough Stadium Trucks (ST) so I signed up for Mod SC and started preparing for that class. Gough had joined me at my ez-up for the day, this is his first race on clay since Farmers closed. Shortly after Gough showing up that Mike showed up, had a FULL pit of ex-farmers racers!!!! With Mike's ST we had a class so the T4 will be raced! :-)

T4

1st qual wasn't so good for me finished 4th. 2nd qual was a bit better finished 3rd. Go at the tone and by lap two was in 1st and finished that way!!!!!

SC10

Qualified in 3rd, by turn two was in 2nd by turn five NASCARed 1st out of my way and lead for over 4 minutes. As I was trying to pass a back marker we  touched and I was on a pipe, 2nd and 3rd got by and I never got close enough to try to get back into 1st.

First race on carpet with the new alm parts. New rear "O" degree hubs and rear plate, these assisted in making the SC10 jump flatter than before. Started having a notchie throttle coming out from under the bridge, hope the 508 no timing software upgrade installed for the next race will fix that, other wise the SC10 was just SWEEEEET! To bad the racer that finished in front of me was having an even SWEEEEEETer race day!!!! :-)

My sister Kathy is down from IL and has never seen a RC race so she joined me for a few short (7) hours of RC fun.

While we where there a RC buddy from the Farmers Hobby & Raceway days stopped by to race with us! Sure was GREAT to visit with Gough and revisit our past at Farmers!!!

Earlier in the week installed a set of JConcepts front axles, what a SWEEEET difference! You can tighten the wheel nut down tight and NOT lock the axle from rotating.

"O" degree rear alm hubs came in also, these went on very easy, didn't make any noticeable change to how the rear worked. But as I understand it, they will last a LONG time.

Saturday at FZ was a Super Cup race, THE fast of the FAST came to race <<< reason I didn't. :-)

Sunday, hoped that the FAST racers would have gone home, NO such luck!

Qualified 7th drove my tail off to finish 7th!!!

FZ\'s parts store has a GS alm rear chassis brace on the wall. Asked Marty what my price was to own this part. He said because of the assist that I done for him, other adults and ALL the kids that have been helped the past two years, my price was FREE.

After testing for a few week with the T4.2 front shock tower setup I went back to the stock setup. To much push, it was steady and constant!!!

Changed the shock oil from 37.5 front to 40 and 32.5 rear to 35 every good change!!! Jumping was every stable. Had Proline M3 Calibers on the front and Panther Boa (soft) on the rear. Was surprised how well the Boa's hooked up, only Simple Green-ed them two times, didn't need any Red Dot!!!

TQ'd both qual and finished first by a couple laps!!!



J82

Was asked to race in the buggy class, so off came the T4 truck body and wheels and on went the J82 buggy body and B4.1 wheels. The wheels just came in the mail as I was leaving for the track. Ran a few laps, then Simple Green-ed the tire for the first qual. TQ'd that qual!!! :-)

Lined up for the main and I was in the lead until we came out from under the bridge. Never seen first again until 40 seconds from the finish and his servo took a dump and of course two laps later I was crossing the line in first!!

February has been a very, VERY good month for T3T4 Web Service race team, four races for four first places with 4 TQ's!!!

The bearings in the LRP X11 7.5 motor was making a LOT of noise the last time at FZRC. Found a set of bearings in my parts stock, changed these out and had tested it at HMIRCR last week, was happy with how the motor ran.

BUT, tax return came in!  :-)

Speed Passion had their Competition 3.0 7.5R motor on sale, when this arrived in the mail the LRP was placed into the pit box as a backup motor.

Qual'd in 4th for the main, didn't plan to finish any better cause the three front racers have always beaten me in the past, so why would this be any diff today? Made a good race of it 1st and 2nd only lapped me 2 times! Finished in 4th just as I figured!! :-)

Having decided to retire the Losi XXX-SCT for good, I'm left with just the SC10 or the T4 / J82!!! :-)

Choose to make the T4 truck into the J82 buggy, was thinking there would be a full class of buggies.

Had problems during the first qual had the wrong tires on, made up for that problem during the 2nd qual by beating the first qual time by two laps for Top Qualifier!! Finished in first by five laps over 2nd.

Signed up for IROC (retail class) TQ'd the first qual, had a battery connection problem in the 2nd qual, BUT the laps per time in the first qual was good enough to keep Top Qualifier for the main. Don't know how many laps I had on 2nd for sure best I could tell 5 to 8!!!!

Had some testing to do!

Losi XXX-SCT

Got a Losi esc and motor from ebay that came stock with the XXX-SCT. Planning to make this into a "Make a RC Wish" car, Put a set of stock tires on and drove the track for 10 minutes to get an idea of what the esc and motor temps would be like for a kid.

Did the thumb test on the motor, got to a five count after a 10 minute run on the track.

SC10

Last week at HMIRCR, put a different rear brace and hubs on to try to get the SC10 to turn SUPER smooth. Worked well there. Was working well enough to keep them during the first qual before the left front wheel came off.

As I was looking at the SC10 in the pits (I was bored out of my mind), the front shock mounts looked odd to me. Put a brace under the front end and took one of the top shock mounts loose. Moved the shock side to side to see how the new shock mount bolt hole compared to the old ones. The new one is about .030 lower. put a /030 washer inside the shock to limit the down travel and changed the shock oil to 30 weight from 32.5.

Landing a jump in 3rd in the 2 qual the esc came loose and unpluged the 3 motor line and the senser cable!!!!!

Changed the bottom piece of velcro, changed the rear tires to ProLine Calibers M3 and put RedDot traction sauce on front and rear tires.

Started in 6th of 7 in the 6 minute main, at the end of lap 1, I was 3rd, at the 3 minute mark 2nd touched a pipe and I got by, was 6 and a half seconds behind 1at, at the end I was 3.5 seconds behine 1st.

Did some setup testing. Roll bars front and rear, rear link & hub, front shock and tires.

Roll bars front, rear or both don't work on carpet.

Rear link mount shaved down .040 with rear hub mount lowered .090 <<< This worked well!!!

Front shock moved to the option top mount with the bottom move to the outer mount hole.

Proline Calibers M3 on the front 45% gone, AKA Enduro Super Soft on the rear, treated both with Simple Green during the 3 qual's. Used Trinity Red Dot tire sauce 10 minutes before the A-main.

Qual'd third, was in second coming over the bridge to start lap one and stayed that way to the end!!!!

Planed to race the SC10, put the Speed Passion GT2.0 esc and the LRP X11 7.5 motor. This is the second track for the upper front shock mount test. Same results as on clay, sharp rolling through a turn, pushes if you try to power your way around a corner. Will do more race testing next week.

Do wonder if the front and rear roll bars that I installed has anything to do with the PUSH!!!! :-)

How did I do? 2nd in the B-main.

Beautiful day in Florida about 12 degrees above normal!!! Planed to race the SC10 with the Speed Passion Cirtix Inspire 2 esc and a Reedy 3300 motor.

First qual had a full set of AKA and they are just NOT hooking up! Changed to a full set of Proline Calibers M3's, these were just what I was looking for. Finished good enough for a 3rd place start in the main.

Was in 3rd after the first turn 7th after the first jump!!! 2nd by turn three and was pulling away!!! By lap 5 I had turned to close to a corner pipe and 3rd got by. :-( Finished 4th with 5th doing everything he could to catch me.

Losi XXX-SCT

With the GREAT results two weeks ago with a win in Pro2 SC class, I thought why not try this again!!!! :-)

Same motor, battery, esc, body, front tires, diff rear tires changed to Duratrax POSSE SC. Did a upgrade to captured ends on the front steering link because I was having a problem with the ball ends "popping" off.

Everything was going GREAT TQ the first qual, 2nd in the 2nd qual for a 4th starting place in the 5 minute main.

At the start of the main I seen that I would be on the outside of the turn after the bridge, powered under the bridge than backed off and turned under the wreaks on the outside of the turn! Was in 2nd for four laps and as I came up on 7th, we touched and I got the bad of it! Remember I changed to captures ends on the steering link, well don't have the servo saver part attached any more!!!! In one lap I went from 2nd to 7th and watching from the pits!!!!!!!!

Going back to ball cup link bits.

Now for the bad, as IF the rain out was bad enough, been sick (Cold) the past 8 days.

Christmas Day about 4:30pm I felt a soreness coming on in my throat, when to work 12/26 sick, was sick at home the rest of the week, still a bit sick today. Had a BIG problem on the track putting turn to turn, lap after lap together. Mind wouldn't stay in gear. 

To sick to race 12/30 or 12/31!!!

Should have stayed home today!!!!
