Newred Hobbies (Ocala, FL)

Rob has been wanting to go to Newred Hobbies with us for a few months. AND today is the day!!! :-) Rob picked me up at my home and we met Mike at Newred's. Rob had never raced on sealed clay indoor off road track.We went up early to give Rob a LOT of time to practice and get his two RC's
setup for the day.

Rob, Mike and I were in the same Short Course class, in part for why we go to Newred's and in part we have the model of RC.

We lined up for the main  >>> Me, another racer, Mike and Rob and we finished that way.

Mike and I signed up for Stadium Truck class, Mike finished 2nd and I was 3rd!

It'd 2016 and racing is once a month now, part time racing for me.

Mann's RC (Ruskin, FL)

Had not planned to race, had been a bit sick. Thinking it a bit of a cold.

Woke up, felt fine, packed up the SC5M for some off road fun!!!!

The problem with racing off road as little as I do is NEVER having the newest/greatest tires of the day for clay outdoor. Tested 3 sets of tires besides the 2 sets that were on the SC5M. By the main was running VP-Pro AXMAN on the rear (had those in the tire box from spring 2011), put some JConcepts Bar Code (Blue) on the front, had just got these for a race at Newred the 12/26/15.

TQ'd both qual's and won the main!!!

Got a bit sick before the mains, dizzy, head pain and upset stomach, eat a bag of chips and it all went away. Guess I was hungry!!! With just 3 classes figured it would be a quick day, not so took over an hour for the computer and timing loop to work, raced the qual took a break and the computer/loop didn't work for another hour!!! Had planed to go to Mcd'd for lunch!!

He is able to get out of bed and sit in a chair <<<< GREAT news!!!!

Bobby took it to me every qual and in the main!!!!

2nd 3 laps back from Bobby!!!

Odd wheel day, just the start of the day!! Left front came off during the 2nd qual, then the righ front came off during the main!!!! One of the thing I check before going out per race is the nuts that hold the tires on. Never found the 1st nut, found the 2nd, NO threads in it!!!

Started 4th finish 7th of 8!!!

TQ'd both qual's, figured IF everything went right another VTA class win is in the books. :-)

2nd and 3rd got by me in turn two, was just a foot behind 1st and 6 inches behind the 2nd as we went under the timing loop. Moved to the right to pass both of them AND >>>> NASCARED the wall for 20 foot, taking the right front wheel and hub off!!!!!

Some how the timing got screwed up, during both qual!!! Had lapped every one at least two times and I didn't get the TQ!!!!!

Go at the tone, DID and was gone!!! Lapped every one again and the timing WORKED!!!

Had not planned to race until 12/26/2015 at Newred in Ocala, BUT!!!!

Got a PM the Chris (owner of Mann's RC) had fell while cutting some tree limbs at off road track. Report >> back broken in 3 places, ribs broken, lung punctured and a concussion. All this happen am morning of 11/30/15. Because of injuries, he had open heart surgery 12/3/15 and came through fine.

Chris is one of the GOOD guys of RC!!!!!

13.5 TC

PIPE!!!! at full speed <<< NOT smart on my part!!! New front a-arm.

1st qual started 6th was 3rd by lap 3!!!! Car would not turn, was trying to spin out coming out of a turn and was pushing into each turn NOT happy!!!

2nd qual broke right front hub (PIPE) !!!!!!

Started 4th with NEW Reedy tires front and rear. Finished 2nd lap in first!!!!! By the end of the main 1st had lapped me and 2nd wasn't far behind!!!

So 3rd in a class I seldom race in with a ex-VTA RC!!!

Qual'd 2nd in both qual's. Changed spur from an 88 tooth to a 84 tooth hoping for MORE top end (SPEED)!!!!

DID I get MORE SPEED! It took 7 minutes of the 8 minute main for 1st to pass me, (he lapped me 2 times per qual). Harold and I fight for 2nd for over 7 minutes then he lost a tire as I passed him.
